DESPITE concerted efforts by the governor, the bad news for gamblers in Oklahoma is there is currently no sports betting available in the state, either online or at land-based venues.
Like many parts of the US, the governor’s power is counteracted by state laws, which has led to an effective stalemate preventing sports betting. The indications are that sports betting isn’t too far away, but for now gamblers must sit tight and wait for some movement in the legislation.
The present situation sees horse race betting, the state lottery, and the state’s hundred-plus land-based casinos, offering a variety of slots, roulette and a number of table games for players from across Oklahoma. Many offshore sportsbooks say they accept customers from Oklahoma, but they are operating without a US license, and as such offer no consumer protection with no guarantees that winning bets will be paid out.
