THE Magnolia State was one of the forerunners in the move to legalize sports betting, launching retail opportunities back in 2018. However, for those who wish to bet from the comfort of their own sitting rooms or while at the bar, the news isn’t so positive, with online sportsbooks only available to use on-site – you must be at the casinos that operate apps to be able to use them.
The desire for many to legalize state-wide mobile sports betting remains on the agenda, with the latest move falling at the committee stage this year. Opposition remains from several of the casino operators who fear a reduction in their revenue from extensive online sports betting, with no movement likely now in 2022.
At present you must be at the casinos – on land or riverboat – running their own sportsbooks to place sports bets in person and online, and registering for apps must be completed on the premises.

Considerably problematic with no tracks in the state offering on-site betting and only casinos with betting facilities. Mississippi is also one of the few states in the US not to be open to advance-deposit wagering operators.
Mississippi Lottery
The state lottery is open to players aged 21 or over and ticket sales are available at licensed retailers up and down the state; there is no option to purchase tickets online.
Mississippi DFS
DFS events were officially legalized in the state in 2017 with operators including FanDuel and DraftKings active in Tennessee.
