DraftKings Predictions is the sportsbook giant’s bid to compete with Kalshi and Polymarket and, above all, to reach the big states where its sportsbook can’t go. Launched in December 2025 as a standalone app and website, it offers CFTC-regulated event contracts on sports, finance and more. It went live in 38 states at launch and had grown to 47 states plus D.C. by August 2026, with sports contracts focused on states such as California, Florida, Georgia and Texas, where traditional online sports betting remains illegal. This review covers how it works, where it’s available and how it differs from DraftKings Sportsbook.

Is DraftKings Predictions legal, and where?
Yes, under federal law. DraftKings Predictions operates under CFTC oversight rather than state sportsbook licenses. At launch on December 19, 2025, contracts ran through outside exchanges, including CME Group. In October 2025 DraftKings had bought Railbird, a CFTC-licensed exchange, and on June 26, 2026 it moved DraftKings Predictions onto DKeX, its own exchange built from Railbird.
Because it’s federally regulated rather than state-licensed, DraftKings Predictions reaches more states than the DraftKings Sportsbook. The split is simple: DraftKings does not offer sports event contracts in any state where DraftKings Sportsbook is live online. There, you get finance, culture and other non-sports markets only. Sports contracts are offered where the sportsbook doesn’t operate.
That design keeps DraftKings out of some, but not all, of the state fights. Nevada regulators said the companies’ prediction market plans amounted to unlawful wagering, and DraftKings withdrew its pending Nevada sports betting application. Elsewhere, states such as Ohio, Michigan, Missouri and Utah have targeted sports event contracts generally, and the federal appeals courts are split on whether states can regulate them. Availability can change, so the app is the final word on what’s live where you are.
Is there a DraftKings Predictions promo code?
The current offer for new customers: Spend $5, get $200 in Predictions Dollars (paid over 21 days). New DraftKings Predictions customers 18+ in eligible states. $5 in trades required. Bonus credits are paid in installments and are non-withdrawable.
DraftKings Predictions runs its own new-user promotions, separate from DraftKings Sportsbook offers. They have varied since launch and are typically paid as non-withdrawable credits. Check the app for the current offer and full terms, and don’t assume a sportsbook bonus carries over.
How to use DraftKings Predictions
- Download the DraftKings Predictions app or open the Predictions tab in the DraftKings app, or use the website. Create an account and verify your identity.
- Fund your account. Withdrawals can go out by ACH, PayPal, debit card, Venmo, Apple Pay, wire or check, among other methods.
- Pick a market and buy Yes or No at a price between $0.01 and $0.99, which reflects the implied probability.
- Hold or trade out as the price moves; correct contracts settle at $1.00.
Fees
DraftKings Predictions charges a per-contract fee tiered by price: $0.01 for contracts priced $0.01 to $0.19, $0.02 for $0.20 to $0.96, and $0.01 for $0.97 to $0.99. A 100-contract position at 55¢, for example, would carry $2 in fees.
What you can trade
Sports contracts take the familiar binary form, such as “Will the Yankees beat the Mets?” or “Will Patrick Mahomes throw over 267.5 yards?” In 2026 DraftKings added combos, its version of parlays: up to six trades in one, all of which must hit. Elections, crypto, commodities, tennis and PGA Tour markets can’t be combined. Beyond sports, the menu covers finance and economics, with entertainment and culture expanding.
DraftKings has big ambitions for the product. At its 2026 Investor Day it set a target of $10 billion in annual gross revenue for DraftKings Predictions, and for the week ended June 21, 2026 it reported about $11.3 billion in annualized total trading volume.
How DraftKings Predictions compares
- vs Kalshi and Polymarket: DraftKings brings a huge existing sports audience and brand. The pure-play exchanges have broader menus and longer track records. See our Kalshi review.
- vs FanDuel Predicts: both keep sports out of their own sportsbook states. FanDuel Predicts runs with CME Group and lists sports in 18 states; DraftKings runs its own exchange and also has a tab inside its main app.
- vs DraftKings Sportsbook: a different product entirely: peer-to-peer event contracts under federal regulation versus state-licensed betting at 21+. See our FanDuel Predicts review for the closest rival.
Who owns DraftKings Predictions?
It’s a product of DraftKings Inc. (Nasdaq: DKNG), the Boston-based operator co-founded and led by CEO Jason Robins. DraftKings has invested directly in the infrastructure by acquiring Railbird and turning it into DKeX, so it can list its own contracts rather than relying on third-party exchanges.
Customer support
Support runs through the app and DraftKings’ help center, with in-app live chat and email-based help.
Responsible trading
Trading event contracts carries risk of loss, and sports contracts work much like bets. Set limits before you start. If it stops being fun, call 1-800-GAMBLER or visit GambleAware.org, and for crisis support call or text 988. See our responsible gambling guide.
DraftKings Predictions in 2027
DKeX contract growth
With its own exchange live since June 2026, DraftKings can self-certify new contracts. Expect the menu to widen as it chases its $10 billion revenue target.
The circuit split
The Third Circuit backed Kalshi against New Jersey, while the Sixth and Ninth Circuits sided with states in 2026. A Supreme Court decision to take up the issue would decide whether DraftKings can keep sports contracts in non-sportsbook states.
Final CFTC rules
The CFTC’s 2026 proposals would formally define event contracts as swaps and treat game-outcome contracts more favorably than player-injury or officiating markets. Final rules would shape which DraftKings sports contracts survive.
