Robinhood Prediction Markets Bonus: Free Stock Worth Up to $200

By American.Bet TeamUpdated Oct 31, 2026

Robinhood didn’t build a prediction market from scratch. It bolted one onto the app millions of Americans already use for stocks and crypto. Its Prediction Markets Hub lets you trade yes/no event contracts on sports, the economy, politics, weather and entertainment without leaving the app, and it has become one of the highest-volume on-ramps for event contracts in the country. This review covers how it works, where it’s legal and what it costs.

Yes, under federal law. Event contracts are offered by Robinhood Derivatives, LLC, a CFTC-registered futures commission merchant and National Futures Association member, through one of several CFTC-regulated exchanges: KalshiEX, ForecastEx, Rothera Exchange and Clearing, or North American Derivatives Exchange. You need to be 18 or older, a U.S. resident with an individual brokerage account, and approved for a Robinhood Derivatives account.

Sports contracts are where the state lines appear:

  • Maryland and Nevada: residents can’t trade sports event contracts. Robinhood paused sports contracts in New Jersey and Nevada in March 2025 after cease-and-desist orders, then resumed and sued both states’ regulators in August 2025. It later froze Nevada sports contracts again after its injunction bid was denied.
  • Michigan: a federal judge ordered Robinhood to stop opening new sports contracts for Michigan customers, effective September 9, 2026, and to close remaining positions by October 9. In return, Michigan agreed not to enforce its gambling laws against Robinhood while the arrangement lasts.
  • Massachusetts: Robinhood’s federal case against Massachusetts regulators is on appeal at the First Circuit, with oral argument set for November 4, 2026.
  • California tribes: on September 16, 2026, the Ninth Circuit found tribes led by Blue Lake Rancheria likely to succeed on their Indian Gaming Regulatory Act claim against Kalshi and Robinhood, and sent the case back to the district court.
  • Missouri: the attorney general told Robinhood and other operators in September 2026 to follow state licensing, tax and age rules or stop sports contracts.

Additional state restrictions may apply, and Robinhood says the app lists the currently supported states.

Is there a Robinhood prediction markets promo code?

The current offer for new customers: Free stock worth $5 to $200 for new Robinhood accounts (most users receive $5). New Robinhood customers 18+. Stock reward for opening and funding a brokerage account; it is not a prediction-market credit and must be sold before the value can be used to trade event contracts.

No prediction-markets-specific promo code or welcome bonus. Robinhood’s new-user incentives sit at the brokerage account level, not the prediction hub, and their value and terms change. Treat third-party “Robinhood prediction code” claims with caution and check the app for current offers.

Robinhood has run prediction-market promotions for existing users, such as reduced commissions during big events.

How to use Robinhood Prediction Markets

  • Open the Robinhood app (or sign up). Prediction markets live inside the same app as stocks and crypto.
  • Apply for a Robinhood Derivatives account if you don’t already have one.
  • Open the Prediction Markets Hub and pick an event.
  • Buy Yes or No at a price between 1¢ and 99¢ (the implied probability). A correct contract settles at $1.00.
  • Sell any time the market is open to lock in a profit or cut a loss.

What it costs

Robinhood changed its pricing on June 1, 2026. Commissions now follow a probability-weighted formula: commission = k × p × (1 − p) × contracts, where p is the price and k is 10%, or 5% with a Robinhood Gold subscription ($5 a month). Commissions are highest near 50¢ and lowest near 1¢ or 99¢, round up to the nearest cent, and never exceed $0.01 per contract. Exchange fees of up to $0.01 per contract apply on top, on both opening and closing trades.

That still compares well with the margin built into typical sportsbook odds. The trade-off is a stripped-down interface designed for simplicity rather than for optimizing execution.

What you can trade

Markets span sports, the Federal Reserve’s next rate decision, economic data, politics, weather, commodities and entertainment. In 2026 Robinhood used its new Rothera exchange for MLB contracts, Core PCE inflation and weekly jobless claims markets, and for World Cup match winners, spreads and totals, while player props and combos still ran through Kalshi.

How Robinhood compares

  • vs Kalshi: Robinhood still routes many contracts to Kalshi’s exchange, so markets overlap. Robinhood wins on simplicity and a familiar app, Kalshi on depth and tools. See our Kalshi review.
  • vs DraftKings Predictions and FanDuel Predicts: all are app front-ends to CFTC exchanges; Robinhood’s edge is its investing user base and low per-contract costs.
  • vs Polymarket: Polymarket US is a single exchange with its own markets; Robinhood spreads orders across several exchanges behind one interface.

Who owns Robinhood?

Robinhood Prediction Markets is part of Robinhood Markets, Inc. (Nasdaq: HOOD), the brokerage co-founded and led by CEO Vlad Tenev. Robinhood is reducing its reliance on Kalshi by building its own venue: Rothera, the former MIAXdx (originally LedgerX), is controlled by a joint venture between Robinhood and trading firm Susquehanna International Group, and began listing contracts in May 2026.

Customer support

Robinhood offers in-app support, including live chat and a request-a-call option, plus a searchable help center. Prediction-market questions route through the same support system as the rest of the app.

Responsible trading

Trading event contracts carries risk of loss, and sports contracts work much like bets. Set limits before you start. If it stops being fun, call 1-800-GAMBLER or visit GambleAware.org, and for crisis support call or text 988. See our responsible gambling guide.
