DraftKings Predictions is the sportsbook giant’s bid to compete with Kalshi and Polymarket — and, crucially, to reach the big states where its sportsbook can’t go. Launched in December 2025 as a standalone app and website, it offers CFTC-regulated event contracts on sports and finance, and it’s live in 38 states, including California, Florida, Georgia and Texas, where traditional online sports betting remains illegal. This review covers how it works, where it’s available and how it differs from the DraftKings Sportsbook.

Yes, under federal law. The platform operates under CFTC oversight through a DraftKings subsidiary registered as an Introducing Broker and National Futures Association member, with contracts routed through CFTC-regulated exchanges — CME Group at launch, and increasingly DraftKings’ own Railbird Exchange, a designated contract market it acquired in October 2025 (Railbird filed its first sports contracts in May 2026). Because it’s federally regulated rather than state-licensed, DraftKings Predictions reaches 38 states — broader than the ~30 where the DraftKings Sportsbook operates — including sports markets in California, Florida, Georgia and Texas, which have no legal sportsbooks. It is not available in Pennsylvania, among others, and faces the same tribal and state-law challenges as the rest of the sector. Customer funds are held by Wedbush Securities, not DraftKings directly.

Is there a DraftKings Predictions promo code?

DraftKings Predictions doesn’t use a fixed promo code, and its new-user offers have varied since launch — they’re separate from DraftKings Sportsbook promotions. Check the app for the current offer rather than relying on a code, and don’t assume a sportsbook bonus carries over.

How to use it

  1. Download the DraftKings Predictions app (separate from the Sportsbook app) or use the website; create an account, 18+.
  2. Fund your account (custodied by Wedbush Securities).
  3. Pick a market — sports or finance — and buy Yes or No at a price between $0.00 and $1.00 (the implied probability).
  4. Hold or trade out as the price moves; correct contracts settle automatically at $1.00.

What you can trade (with examples)

At launch the menu centers on sports and finance, expanding into entertainment and culture. Sports contracts take the familiar binary form — for example, “Will the Yankees beat the Mets?” or “Will Patrick Mahomes throw over/under 267.5 yards?” — and in May 2026 DraftKings added sports-contract combos (its version of parlays). DraftKings leans on relationships with ESPN and NBCUniversal for real-time content. Annualized trading volume reached roughly $2.3 billion by spring 2026.

How DraftKings Predictions compares

  • vs Kalshi / Polymarket — DraftKings brings a huge existing sports audience and brand, but early reviewers found the product less innovative than the pure-play exchanges; that may change as Railbird lets it list its own markets.
  • vs Robinhood — both are app front-ends to CFTC exchanges; Robinhood is cheaper and simpler, DraftKings is more sports-first and reaches more no-sportsbook states.
  • vs DraftKings Sportsbook — different product entirely: peer-to-peer event contracts under federal regulation, available in more states and at 18+, versus state-licensed betting at 21+.

Who owns DraftKings Predictions?

It’s a product of DraftKings Inc. (Nasdaq: DKNG), the Boston-based operator co-founded and led by CEO Jason Robins, who has called prediction markets the thing he’s “most bullish” about for the company’s future. DraftKings left the American Gaming Association in November 2025 as the trade group criticized prediction markets, and it has invested directly in the infrastructure by acquiring Railbird Technologies and its CFTC-licensed exchange.

Customer support

Support runs through the DraftKings Predictions app and DraftKings’ help center, with in-app live chat and email-based help; DraftKings’ established support operation backs the product. As with peers, there’s no dedicated prediction-markets phone line published.

App ratings

The DraftKings Predictions app is a separate listing from the DraftKings Sportsbook on the Apple App Store and Google Play. Star ratings move daily — confirm the current rating and review count at publish time.

DraftKings Predictions FAQs

Yes, under federal CFTC oversight, through a registered DraftKings subsidiary and CFTC-regulated exchanges (CME and DraftKings’ own Railbird).

What states is it available in?

38 states, with sports markets in 17 of them — including California, Florida, Georgia and Texas, which have no legal online sportsbooks. It’s not offered in Pennsylvania, among others.

Is there a promo code?

No fixed code. New-user offers have varied since launch and are separate from DraftKings Sportsbook promos — check the app for the current deal.

How is it different from DraftKings Sportsbook?

It’s a CFTC-regulated event-contract exchange (peer-to-peer, 18+, available in more states), not a state-licensed sportsbook (21+). They’re separate apps and accounts.

Who holds my money?

Customer funds are custodied by Wedbush Securities, a registered broker-dealer, rather than by DraftKings directly.

How old do you have to be?

18+, as a federally regulated event-contract product.

Can I trade sports in California, Texas, Florida or Georgia?

Yes — those are among the states where DraftKings Predictions offers sports contracts despite the absence of legal sportsbooks. Availability can change with litigation, so confirm in-app.

What is Railbird?

Railbird Exchange is the CFTC-licensed designated contract market DraftKings acquired in October 2025, letting it list its own event contracts rather than relying solely on third-party exchanges.

How do contracts settle?

Prices run $0.00–$1.00 and reflect implied probability; at resolution a correct position settles to $1.00 automatically, based on a predefined source.

Are winnings taxed?

Event-contract gains are generally taxable. Consult a tax professional about reporting in your situation.
