Century Casinos, which runs properties in Cripple Creek and Central City, holds the license behind bet365's Colorado app, live since September 2022 as the operator's second US state. Its pitch here is in-play betting, live streaming and Bet Boosts rather than a retail presence.

Midnight Rose Hotel & Casino in Cripple Creek holds BetMGM's Colorado license, and the app was one of four live on the state's opening day, May 1, 2020. A Denver Broncos deal signed that July brought a BetMGM lounge to Empower Field at Mile High, and wagers feed into MGM Rewards.

BetMonarch

Monarch Casino Resort Spa in Black Hawk manages this book in-house, launching the app in May 2020 and opening a retail BetMonarch sportsbook at the resort in December 2021. Online bets earn Monarch Rewards points, and since 2024 the product has run on IGT's PlaySports platform.

BetRivers
License: J.P. McGill's Hotel & Casino
BetRivers took some of Colorado's first online bets on May 1, 2020, through J.P. McGill's Hotel & Casino in Cripple Creek. Weeks later it introduced a BetRivers Play+ prepaid card for deposits, and the app pairs in-play markets with daily live streams.

Caesars Sportsbook
License: Horseshoe Black Hawk Casino
Caesars bets in Colorado run on the Horseshoe Black Hawk license, and the app took its current name in August 2021, replacing William Hill. Four Caesars retail books operate in the state, at Horseshoe Black Hawk, Lady Luck Black Hawk, Grand Z Casino and Z Casino, and every bet earns Caesars Rewards credits.

Circa Sports

DraftKings
License: Bally's Black Hawk North Casino

Bettors in Black Hawk can also use DraftKings retail sportsbooks there and at the Golden Nugget, and one login covers DraftKings fantasy contests.

Fanatics Sportsbook
License: Double Eagle Hotel & Casino
Fanatics replaced PointsBet in Colorado in December 2023, letting existing customers log in with their old credentials. Double Eagle Hotel & Casino in Cripple Creek holds the license and hosts a Fanatics retail sportsbook, and wagers earn FanCash for bonus bets or Fanatics gear.

FanDuel Sportsbook
License: Bally's Black Hawk West Casino
FanDuel launched in Colorado on May 1, 2020, its fifth state, through Golden Gates Casino in Black Hawk, now Bally's Black Hawk West. Weeks later the Denver Broncos signed it as the team's first sports betting partner, and sportsbook and fantasy winnings sit in the same account.

License: Colorado Grande Casino
Hard Rock Bet arrived on July 21, 2025, the first new sportsbook in Colorado since January 2024, with Colorado Grande Casino in Cripple Creek as its license partner. The app is tied into Unity by Hard Rock, so points can go toward hotel stays, concerts and dining at Hard Rock properties.

theScore Bet

Penn Entertainment runs this app under the license of Ameristar Casino Black Hawk, which also hosts an Ameristar-branded retail sportsbook. The Colorado product was ESPN BET until December 1, 2025, when accounts moved to theScore Bet, and bets can be built inside theScore's sports news app through Bet Mode.
Sports betting offers in Colorado
Today's new-customer offers from the licensed Colorado sportsbooks, with full terms, are on our promo page.
Colorado bets far more than its population suggests. The state doesn’t cap licenses, so a large field of operators competes for customers, and Coloradans wagered $388.1 million in August 2026 alone, according to the Colorado Division of Gaming. The reason it works: Colorado charges operators just 10% of net sports betting proceeds, one of the lowest rates in the country, so books compete hard for customers.
Colorado launched on May 1, 2020, and is regulated by the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission through the Division of Gaming. The age is 21. This is a serious sports state: the Broncos in the NFL, the 2023 NBA champion Nuggets, the 2022 Stanley Cup champion Avalanche, plus the Rockies and Rapids, and a high-altitude outdoor culture that makes it one of the more engaged betting populations per head.
None of the Colorado sportsbooks is a commercial partner of American.Bet, so this page has no sportsbook offers or Promo Codes. It is an independent guide to the whole field. For every current welcome offer in one list, see our Colorado sportsbook promos.

Is sports betting legal in Colorado?
Yes. Colorado voters approved Proposition DD in November 2019, authorizing sports betting and a 10% tax on net proceeds, and both retail and online books went live on May 1, 2020. The Division of Gaming, part of the Colorado Department of Revenue, licenses operators and publishes monthly results, with the Limited Gaming Control Commission setting the rules.
Colorado’s tax money goes to water. Proposition DD earmarked sports betting revenue for the Colorado Water Plan, and in November 2024 voters approved Proposition JJ with about 76% of the vote, letting the state keep every dollar collected rather than refunding anything above the original $29 million annual cap.
How the Colorado market works: casino licenses, many brands
Every online sportsbook in Colorado must partner with a licensed casino in Black Hawk, Central City or Cripple Creek. The casino holds the master license, and each master license can host an online brand. Because there is no cap on licenses, the field is one of the largest in the country.

Welcome offers change often and vary by state; check each operator’s site for current Colorado terms.
Why Colorado is a good state to bet in
The 10% tax is the bettor’s friend. Because operators keep more of their revenue than they would in a 36% or 51% state, they spend more competing for you: more boosts, more bonuses, and prices that are routinely a touch sharper. With this many books live, line-shopping is genuinely worth your time. Open two or three apps and always take the best number.
One change trims operators’ margins. Under HB25-1311, signed by Gov. Jared Polis on May 15, 2025, the deduction books could take for promotional “free bets” fell to 1% on January 1, 2026, and was abolished on July 1, 2026. Sponsors estimated about $13 million in extra water funding in fiscal 2026-27.
Colorado’s market by the numbers
The Division of Gaming publishes monthly figures. Coloradans wagered $388,148,758 in August 2026, down from $486.3 million in July, when the FIFA World Cup drove a surge in soccer betting. Taxes for August came to $3.15 million. For the fiscal year through August, handle was $874.5 million, up 13.6% on the same point a year earlier, and taxes were $7.7 million, up 20.2%. The single biggest betting event of the year was Super Bowl LX, which drew $40.7 million in Colorado wagers.
Online betting accounts for the overwhelming share of activity; retail at the mountain casinos is a small slice by comparison. Because the 10% tax applies to net proceeds, Colorado’s tax receipts are modest relative to its handle. That is by design: the state treats competition, not high taxes, as the main protection for bettors.
What you can bet on in Colorado
Colorado books offer only wagers listed in the Division of Gaming’s approved catalog, which covers professional and college leagues: NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, soccer, tennis, golf, MMA and more, with moneylines, spreads, totals, parlays, same-game parlays, futures and live betting.
Betting on CU, CSU and other college teams
Colorado allows bets on in-state college teams, so the Colorado Buffaloes at Folsom Field and Colorado State at Canvas Stadium are on the board. What you can’t bet is individual player props on any college sport.
Local and global events to bet on in Colorado
Locally, Colorado betting tends to revolve around the Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High, the Nuggets and Avalanche at Ball Arena, and the Rockies at Coors Field. The biggest nights for Colorado sportsbooks are national ones: the Super Bowl, March Madness, the NBA Finals and the World Series, plus golf’s majors and tennis’s Grand Slams.
A worked example: the spread
The Broncos are -3.5 against the Chiefs at -110. Bet $110 and Denver must win by four or more for you to collect $210 (your stake plus $100). If one book has the Broncos at -3 and another at -3.5, the half-point matters: a three-point Denver win is a push at -3 and a loss at -3.5.
Deposits, payouts and Colorado betting taxes
Licensed Colorado apps take debit cards, online banking, PayPal and operator-branded options, and the first withdrawal triggers a one-time identity check. Operators pay 10% of net proceeds to the state. Your winnings are taxable income for federal and Colorado state income tax, and books issue tax forms on qualifying wins.
Colorado apps and geolocation
Every Colorado book has iOS and Android apps with geolocation; sign up anywhere, bet in-state. Near the Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, New Mexico or Utah lines, give the app a moment to confirm you are in Colorado.
How to find the best betting site in Colorado
No single app is best for every Colorado bettor; the right one depends on what and how you bet. Start with price: a half-point better on a Colorado spread beats almost any sign-up bonus over a season, so compare the odds on the markets you bet most. After that, look at the everyday details: app stability on a busy Sunday, how fast Colorado withdrawals arrive, and whether a bonus can realistically be cleared. Line shopping across two Colorado apps is the habit sharp bettors swear by.
How to check whether a Colorado sportsbook is legal
Before you deposit, confirm a Colorado sportsbook is the real thing. A licensed Colorado book appears on the Division of Gaming’s licensee list, makes you verify that you’re 21 or older, and runs a geolocation check to confirm you’re physically in Colorado before each bet. Offshore sites that take only crypto or skip ID checks are not licensed in Colorado, so a withheld payout leaves you with no one to complain to.
Responsible gambling in Colorado
If betting stops being fun, Colorado’s Division of Gaming points bettors to BetSmart Colorado and to 1-800-GAMBLER, which you can call or text, free and confidential. Licensed books must offer deposit limits, time-outs and self-restriction under the state’s responsible gaming rules. General advice is at GambleAware.org and in our responsible gambling guide.
Colorado sports betting in 2027
The first full year without promo deductions
HB25-1311 ended the free-bet deduction on July 1, 2026. Fiscal 2026-27 is the first year operators pay the 10% tax with no promotional write-off, and the effect on welcome offers will show up across 2027.
More money for water
With Proposition JJ removing the $29 million cap, every dollar of sports betting tax now flows to water projects. The Limited Gaming Control Commission’s annual water-fund allocation is the number to watch.
Prop bet scrutiny
A Louisiana bill in 2026 cited a similar Colorado proposal to curb prop bets. Any 2027 move by Colorado lawmakers on props or micro-bets would change what the apps can offer.
What is the best sportsbook in Colorado?
It depends how you bet. FanDuel is strong on same-game parlays and Broncos and Nuggets pricing, bet365 on live betting and streaming, and BetRivers on its iRush Rewards loyalty scheme. With more apps live than in most states, keeping two or three and comparing prices pays off.
Is online sports betting legal in Colorado?
Yes. It launched on May 1, 2020, after voters approved Proposition DD. You must be 21+ and physically in Colorado to bet.
How many sportsbooks are legal in Colorado?
Colorado doesn’t cap licenses. Twelve major online sportsbooks are live, each partnered with a Colorado casino, and the Division of Gaming publishes the full licensee list.
Can I bet on the Colorado Buffaloes?
Yes. Colorado allows bets on in-state college teams, but individual player props are banned on all college sports.
Can I use a Colorado betting app if I live out of state?
Yes. You can register from anywhere, but you must be physically inside Colorado when you place a bet.
Where does Colorado's sports betting tax go?
To water. The 10% tax funds the Colorado Water Plan, and since Proposition JJ passed in 2024 the state keeps all of it.
Is FanDuel legal in Colorado?
Yes. FanDuel has been live since the 2020 launch, through Bally’s Black Hawk West Casino.
