New Jersey online casinos are the biggest, oldest and most competitive in America, and if you’re shopping for where to play, this is the page to start.
New Jersey was the birthplace of legal US iGaming back in 2013, and today close to 30 licensed brands compete for your deposit, which means deep game libraries, quick payouts and some of the strongest bonuses anywhere.
At American Bet we rank Garden State casinos on what matters, using the operators’ own terms, the DGE’s monthly reports and the apps themselves, so you can find the right fit in minutes.
The quick version, what you’ll find on this page:
- Is it legal? Yes. Online casinos have been legal in New Jersey since 2013, regulated by the Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE).
- How many sites? Close to 30 brands reported revenue to the DGE in September 2026, each tied to an Atlantic City license.
- Our partners: Betinia, Hard Rock Bet, PlayStar and Stardust, each with its offer, full terms and a worked example below.
- How big is the market? $2.91 billion in 2025, a record and the first year online casinos out-earned Atlantic City’s casino floors.
- Who can play? Anyone 21 or older physically located in New Jersey. Residency isn’t required.

Are online casinos legal in New Jersey?
Yes.
New Jersey was the third state to legalize online casino gaming, after Governor Chris Christie signed Assembly Bill 2578 in February 2013; the first regulated sites went live on November 21, 2013.
The market is overseen by the DGE, which licenses operators, approves every game through independent testing labs, and publishes detailed monthly revenue reports.
In 2023, Governor Phil Murphy signed an extension keeping iGaming legal through 2028.
To play you must be 21 or older and physically within New Jersey; every site uses geolocation and ID verification to confirm both.
You don’t have to be a state resident, only inside state lines when you wager.
Each online casino runs under the license of an Atlantic City property: Hard Rock Bet under Hard Rock Atlantic City, PlayStar under Ocean Casino Resort, Betinia under Caesars Interactive Entertainment New Jersey, Stardust and BetMGM under Borgata, and BetRivers and FanDuel under Golden Nugget.
New Jersey also banned dual-currency sweepstakes casinos in 2025, pushing unlicensed brands like Chumba and LuckyLand out of the state.

Hard Rock Bet runs under the Hard Rock Atlantic City license and is backed by Seminole Hard Rock Digital. It went online on June 28, 2018, the day after the former Trump Taj Mahal reopened on the Boardwalk as Hard Rock Atlantic City, and now carries more than 4,000 games, including live dealer tables and an in-house progressive jackpot network. It posted $17.8 million in internet gaming win in September 2026, per the DGE.
Worth knowing this autumn: Hard Rock Bet is running a $5 million slots tournament with weekly qualifiers through November 29 and a $1 million first prize decided at the Hard Rock Guitar Hotel. New NJ titles this month include Viva Fiesta, Slingo Day 2 Dab and Crowning Wins, and you can deposit with PayPal, Venmo or Apple Pay.
The offer: $1K Lossback + 500 Cash Eruption Bonus Spins. New customers 21+ in NJ and MI. $10 first deposit for 500 Bonus Spins on Cash Eruption only; spins expire 7 days after issue. Lossback: 100% of net slot losses in your first 24 hours, up to $1,000, paid as Casino Bonus with 1x wagering within 14 days. Slots only. Full terms at Hard Rock Bet.
How it works in practice:
- Deposit $10 and the 500 Cash Eruption spins land in your account. Use them within 7 days.
- Say you then play slots for your first 24 hours and finish $200 down. Hard Rock refunds $200 as Casino Bonus. Wager that $200 once on slots within 14 days and whatever is left is yours to withdraw.
- If you finish the 24 hours ahead, there’s no lossback, and you keep your winnings. The refund caps at $1,000, so a $1,500 net loss still returns $1,000.
The Unity Rewards program lets online play earn perks at Hard Rock hotels, casinos and cafes worldwide.

Soft2Bet launched the brand in Europe in 2021 and brought it to New Jersey in 2026 under the Caesars Interactive Entertainment New Jersey permit, where it reported $1.3 million in internet gaming win in September 2026. It’s built around missions, levels and a rewards shop rather than a plain lobby, and one app covers both the casino and the sportsbook.
The offer: 110% deposit match up to $1,100 + 500 Bonus Spins. New players only. Min. $20 deposit. 110% match up to $1,100 plus 500 Bonus Spins ($0.10 each), awarded as 50 daily spins over 10 days. - Deposit $1,000 to max the match at $1,100, which takes $22,000 in eligible play to clear.
- The 500 spins are worth $50 at face value and drop 50 a day for 10 days, so log in daily or lose that day’s batch. Spin winnings carry 30x wagering: win $8 on a day’s spins and you’ll need $240 in play before it converts.

Make a first deposit to trigger the 225 spins and the 100% match. Check the cap and wagering on Stardust’s promotions page before you choose your deposit size.
Table-game players are well served with a long blackjack menu and Evolution live dealer tables, making it a good pick for trying real-money play with minimal commitment.

Casino games you can play in New Jersey
Because New Jersey’s market is so mature, the game catalogs are the deepest in the country. Every game is DGE-approved and independently tested.
The main categories are:
- Online slots. The biggest category: three-reel classics, modern video slots and progressive jackpots, including in-house networks at Hard Rock Bet and the big operators.
- Table games. Blackjack, roulette, baccarat and casino poker in many variants, with Stardust’s blackjack menu one of the longest.
- Live dealer. Real tables streamed in HD, largely on Evolution from New Jersey studios; BetMGM streams live roulette from the Borgata floor.
- Online poker. Legal and pooled with other states through the multistate agreement, with WSOP and Party Poker among the licensed rooms. Peer-to-peer poker earned $30.3 million in 2025.
How to sign up at a New Jersey online casino
- Pick a licensed site and choose your welcome offer. Betinia, Hard Rock Bet, PlayStar and Stardust apply their offers through the buttons on this page; at PlayStar you select the welcome offer in the cashier.
- Click “Join” or “Sign Up” and enter your details: name, date of birth, address, email and the last four digits of your Social Security number for verification.
- Confirm you are 21 or older (25 or older for PlayStar’s welcome offer) and physically located in New Jersey; the site checks your location automatically.
- Make your first deposit using a debit card, online bank transfer (ACH), PayPal, Play+ or PayNearMe. Several sites also take Apple Pay and Venmo. Hard Rock Bet’s offer starts at $10; Betinia and PlayStar need $20.
- Complete a one-time identity check and start playing. Your welcome offer activates on your qualifying deposit or first session.
New Jersey online casino welcome bonuses
New Jersey offers come in three forms:
- Deposit match. The site matches a percentage of your first deposit in bonus funds, with wagering attached (Betinia 110% up to $1,100 at 20x; PlayStar 100% up to $500 at 30x).
- Cashback or lossback. Net first-day losses refunded as bonus money, usually with the lowest rollover (Hard Rock Bet up to $1,000 at 1x).
- No-deposit. Spins or a small credit just for registering (Stardust’s 50 Cash Eruption spins).
Every live offer, partner or not, is compared on our New Jersey casino bonuses page. Always check the wagering requirement, eligible games and expiry before opting in. A $1,000 lossback at 1x can be worth more in practice than a bigger match at 30x, because you only have to play it through once.
Banking, deposits and withdrawals
New Jersey casinos support secure, familiar banking: debit cards, online bank transfer (ACH), PayPal and other e-wallets, Apple Pay and Venmo at several sites, the Play+ prepaid card, and cash via PayNearMe or at the partner casino cage. Some operators, including FanDuel, have phased out credit-card deposits in NJ.
E-wallets are usually the fastest way to get paid; bank transfers take a few business days.
A one-time identity verification is required before your first withdrawal.
Mobile casino apps
Every licensed New Jersey casino offers iOS and Android apps plus a mobile browser site. Hard Rock Bet and Betinia each run one app for casino and sportsbook; PlayStar has a separate PlayStar LIVE app for its live tables.
All apps use geolocation to confirm you’re inside New Jersey, so keep location services enabled.
New Jersey online casino laws, tax and revenue
New Jersey taxes online casino gross gaming revenue at 19.75%, raised from 15% in the FY2026 state budget effective July 1, 2025, plus a 2.5% investment alternative tax; retail Atlantic City casino revenue is taxed at 8%.
For players, gambling winnings are taxable under New Jersey’s gross income tax and federal tax, and large slot wins trigger a W-2G form from the casino.
No other US online casino market is as big.
New Jersey online casinos generated $2.91 billion in 2025, up 22%, and for the first time out-earned Atlantic City’s casino floors ($2.89 billion), per the DGE. Through September 2026, iGaming win stood at $2.40 billion, up 13.2%, with September alone producing $274.8 million.
The DGE has also stepped up enforcement, banning dual-currency sweepstakes casinos in 2025 to protect the regulated market.
Land-based casinos in New Jersey
All of New Jersey’s online casinos are tied to Atlantic City, home to nine land-based casinos: Borgata, Hard Rock, Ocean Casino Resort, Caesars, Harrah’s, Tropicana, Bally’s, Resorts and Golden Nugget.
Borgata is consistently the city’s top earner.
Because each online brand operates under one of these properties’ licenses, the casino behind your app usually has a physical counterpart you can visit on the Boardwalk or in the Marina district.

The 2028 sunset gets closer

Life at 19.75%
The tax rose from 15% in July 2025. A full two years of data in 2027 will show whether operators trimmed promotions or kept spending, with iGaming win still up 13.2% through September 2026.
